Southern Rum Cake
A buttery rum soaked pound cake glazed with a warm rum butter sauce.
Ingredients
- 3.00 cup all-purpose flour
- 1.00 tsp baking powder
- 0.50 tsp salt
- 1.00 cup butter
- 2.00 cup sugar
- 5.00 l arge eggs
- 0.50 cup dark rum
- 0.50 cup whole milk
- 2.00 tsp vanilla
- rum glaze: 1/2 cup butter , 1/4 cup water, 1 cup sugar, 1/2 cup dark rum

Preheat oven to 325°F and grease a bundt pan.

Cream butter and sugar until fluffy.

Add eggs one at a time.

Alternate adding flour mixture and rum-milk mixture.

Stir in vanilla.

Pour into pan and bake 1 hour to 1 hour 10 minutes.

Make glaze by cooking butter, water, and sugar until boiling, then adding rum.

Pour hot glaze over hot cake immediately after removing from oven.

Let soak in pan 30 minutes before turning out.

Serve with whipped cream.
