Southern Bread Pudding
Day old bread soaked in a vanilla custard and baked until golden.
Ingredients
- 8.00 cup day-old white bread , cubed
- 4.00 l arge eggs
- 2.00 cup whole milk
- 1.00 cup heavy cream
- 0.75 cup sugar
- 0.25 cup butter
- 2.00 tsp vanilla extract
- 1.00 tsp cinnamon
- 0.50 tsp nutmeg
- 0.50 cup raisins
Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9x13 baking dish.

Spread bread cubes in prepared dish.

Whisk together eggs, milk, cream, sugar, melted butter, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

Pour over bread and press bread down to absorb.

Add raisins if using.

Let soak 15 minutes.

Bake 40-45 minutes until set and golden.

Serve warm with whiskey sauce or vanilla sauce.
