Shrimp and Grits
Gulf shrimp in a rich bacon and tomato sauce served over creamy stone-ground grits.
Ingredients
- 1.00 lb large shrimp , peeled and deveined
- 1.00 cup stone-ground grits
- 4.00 cup water
- 1.00 tsp salt
- 3.00 tbsp butter
- 1.00 cup cheddar cheese
- 4.00 slice bacon , chopped
- 1.00 small onion , diced
- 1.00 g reen bell pepper , diced
- 3.00 cup loves garlic , minced
- 1.00 cup chicken broth
- 1.00 tbsp lemon juice
- cajun seasoning
- green onions
Instructions

Cook grits in salted water 20-25 minutes until thick and creamy.

Stir in 2 tbsp butter and cheddar cheese.

Cook bacon until crispy, remove and set aside.

Sauté onion and bell pepper in bacon drippings.

Add garlic and cook 1 minute.

Add shrimp and season with Cajun seasoning.

Cook 2-3 minutes per side until pink.

Add broth and lemon juice and simmer 2 minutes.

Serve shrimp over cheesy grits garnished with bacon and green onions.
