Sawmill Biscuits
Old-fashioned biscuits made with lard and buttermilk — the real Southern deal.
Ingredients
- 2.00 cup all-purpose flour
- 1.00 tbsp baking powder
- 0.50 tsp salt
- 0.50 tsp baking soda
- 6.00 tbsp cold lard or butter
- 0.75 cup buttermilk
Instructions

Preheat oven to 450°F.

Mix flour, baking powder, salt, and baking soda.

Cut in cold lard or butter until crumbly.

Add buttermilk and stir until just combined.

Turn onto a floured surface and gently fold 3-4 times.

Pat to 3/4 inch thick and cut into rounds.

Place on baking sheet touching each other.

Bake 12-14 minutes until golden.
