Red Velvet Cake
A classic Southern red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting.
Ingredients
- 2.50 cup all-purpose flour
- 1.50 cup sugar
- 1.00 tsp baking soda
- 1.00 tsp salt
- 1.00 tsp cocoa powder
- 1.50 cup vegetable oil
- 1.00 cup buttermilk
- 2.00 l arge eggs
- 2.00 tbsp red food coloring
- 1.00 tsp vanilla extract
- 1.00 tsp white vinegar
- cream cheese frosting: 16 oz cream cheese , 1/2 cup butter, 4 cups powdered sugar, 2 tsp vanilla

Preheat oven to 350°F and grease two 9-inch round pans.

Sift together flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, and cocoa.

In another bowl whisk oil, buttermilk, eggs, food coloring, vanilla, and vinegar.

Mix wet into dry until smooth.

Divide between pans.

Bake 30-35 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.

Cool completely.

Make frosting by beating cream cheese and butter until fluffy then mixing in powdered sugar and vanilla.

Frost cooled cake layers and sides.

Refrigerate until ready to serve.
