Southern Smothered Hamburger
Ground beef patties smothered in a rich onion and mushroom brown gravy.
Ingredients
- 1.50 lb ground beef
- salt , pepper, and garlic powder
- 1.00 l arge onion , sliced
- 2.00 cup beef broth
- 3.00 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2.00 tbsp vegetable oil
- cooked white rice or mashed potatoes
Instructions

Season ground beef with salt, pepper, and garlic powder and form into 4 patties.

Brown patties in oil 3-4 minutes per side.

Remove and set aside.

Sauté sliced onion in same pan until golden brown and caramelized.

Sprinkle flour over onions and stir.

Pour in broth and stir until smooth.

Return patties to pan.

Simmer covered 20-25 minutes until gravy thickens.

Serve patties smothered in onion gravy over rice or mashed potatoes.
