Southern Donut Holes
Light and airy donut holes fried golden and rolled in powdered sugar.
Ingredients
- 2.00 cup all-purpose flour
- 0.25 cup sugar
- 2.00 tsp baking powder
- 0.50 tsp nutmeg
- 0.50 tsp salt
- 0.75 cup buttermilk
- 1.00 l arge egg
- 2.00 tbsp butter
- oil for frying
- cinnamon sugar: 1/2 cup sugar , 1 tsp cinnamon
Instructions

Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, nutmeg, and salt.

Whisk buttermilk, egg, and melted butter together.

Stir wet into dry until just combined.

Heat 3 inches of oil to 375°F.

Drop rounded tablespoons of batter into hot oil.

Fry in batches 1-2 minutes per side until deep golden.

Drain briefly then roll immediately in cinnamon sugar.

Serve warm.
