Purple Hull Pea Soup
Fresh purple hull peas cooked with smoked turkey and garden vegetables.
Ingredients
- 2.00 cup fresh or frozen purple hull peas
- 1.00 ham hock
- 1.00 onion , diced
- 3.00 cup loves garlic , minced
- 4.00 cup chicken broth
- 2.00 cup water
- salt and pepper
- cornbread
Instructions

Combine ham hock, peas, onion, garlic, broth, and water in a large pot.

Bring to a boil then reduce heat.

Simmer 1 1/2 hours until peas are very tender.

Remove ham hock and shred any meat back into soup.

Season with salt and pepper.

Serve with cornbread.
