Ingredients

  • 2.00 cup dried black-eyed peas
  • 1.00 ham hock
  • 1.00 onion , diced
  • 3.00 cup loves garlic , minced
  • 6.00 cup water
  • salt , pepper, and red pepper flakes to taste

Instructions

    Soak black-eyed peas overnight and drain.

    Combine peas, ham hock, onion, garlic, and water in a large pot.

    Bring to a boil then reduce heat.

    Simmer 1 to 1 1/2 hours until peas are tender.

    Remove ham hock and pull off any meat.

    Return meat to pot.

    Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes.

    Serve with cornbread and pot likker.
