Overnight Grits Casserole
Stone ground grits soaked overnight and baked with cheese, eggs and sausage.
Ingredients
- 1.00 cup stone-ground grits
- 4.00 cup water
- 1.00 tsp salt
- 0.50 cup butter
- 2.00 cup cheddar cheese
- 3.00 l arge eggs
- 1.00 cup whole milk
- 1.00 lb breakfast sausage , cooked and crumbled
Instructions

Cook grits in salted water until thick, about 25 minutes.

Stir in butter and 1 1/2 cups cheese.

Cool slightly and stir in eggs, milk, and cooked sausage.

Pour into greased 9x13 dish.

Top with remaining cheese.

Cover and refrigerate overnight.

Next morning bake at 350°F for 45-50 minutes until set and golden.

Rest 10 minutes before serving.
