Ingredients

  • 1.00 cup stone-ground grits
  • 4.00 cup water
  • 1.00 tsp salt
  • 0.50 cup butter
  • 2.00 cup cheddar cheese
  • 3.00 l arge eggs
  • 1.00 cup whole milk
  • 1.00 lb breakfast sausage , cooked and crumbled

Instructions

    Cook grits in salted water until thick, about 25 minutes.

    Stir in butter and 1 1/2 cups cheese.

    Cool slightly and stir in eggs, milk, and cooked sausage.

    Pour into greased 9x13 dish.

    Top with remaining cheese.

    Cover and refrigerate overnight.

    Next morning bake at 350°F for 45-50 minutes until set and golden.
