Fried Dough
Simple fried dough sprinkled with powdered sugar — a fair favorite.
Ingredients
- 2.00 cup all-purpose flour
- 1.00 tbsp baking powder
- 0.50 tsp salt
- 1.00 tbsp sugar
- 0.75 cup warm water or milk
- 2.00 tbsp vegetable oil
- oil for frying
- powdered sugar cinnamon sugar or honey

Mix flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.

Add warm water and oil and mix until dough forms.

Knead briefly until smooth.

Rest covered 15 minutes.

Pull off golf ball-sized pieces and flatten into rounds.

Heat 2 inches of oil to 375°F.

Fry dough rounds 1-2 minutes per side until golden and puffed.

Drain on paper towels.

Serve immediately dusted with powdered sugar cinnamon sugar or drizzled with honey.
