Ingredients

  • 2.00 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2.00 cup sugar
  • 1.00 tsp baking soda
  • 0.50 tsp salt
  • 0.50 cup butter
  • 0.50 cup shortening
  • 1.00 cup strong black coffee
  • 0.25 cup cocoa powder
  • 2.00 l arge eggs
  • 0.50 cup buttermilk
  • 1.00 tsp vanilla
  • chocolate frosting

Instructions

    Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9x13 pan.

    Bring butter, shortening, coffee, and cocoa to a boil, stirring.

    Pour over flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt.

    Mix well.

    Add eggs, buttermilk, and vanilla and mix until smooth.

    Pour into pan.

    Bake 30-35 minutes until done.

    Make frosting: melt 1/2 cup butter with 1/4 cup cocoa, 6 tbsp milk; whisk in 4 cups powdered sugar and 1 tsp vanilla.

    Pour hot frosting over hot cake.

    Cool before cutting.
