Chicken Perloo
South Carolina chicken and rice cooked together with vegetables and herbs.
Ingredients
- 1.00 whole chicken
- 1.00 lb smoked sausage , sliced
- 2.00 cup long-grain white rice
- 1.00 onion , diced
- 3.00 cup loves garlic , minced
- 4.00 cup chicken broth
- 2.00 cup water
- salt , pepper, and thyme
Instructions

Boil chicken in broth and water with seasonings until cooked through, about 45 minutes.

Remove chicken and shred.

Return shredded chicken and sausage to broth.

Bring to a boil.

Stir in rice.

Reduce heat, cover, and cook 20-25 minutes.

Fluff and serve hot.
