Candied Yams
Sweet potatoes cooked in butter, brown sugar, and warm spices.
Ingredients
- 4.00 l arge sweet potatoes , peeled and sliced
- 0.50 cup butter
- 1.00 cup brown sugar
- 0.25 cup orange juice
- 1.00 tsp cinnamon
- 0.25 tsp nutmeg
- 0.25 tsp vanilla extract
- pinch of salt
- mini marshmallows
Instructions

Preheat oven to 375°F and grease a 9x13 baking dish.

Arrange sweet potato slices in prepared dish.

Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat.

Stir in brown sugar, orange juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, and salt.

Cook until sugar dissolves and sauce is smooth.

Pour over sweet potatoes.

Cover with foil and bake 30 minutes.

Remove foil, baste with sauce, and bake 20 more minutes until potatoes are very tender and glazed.

Top with marshmallows and broil until golden if desired.
