Southern Ham and Beans
Navy beans slow cooked with a smoked ham hock — simple, hearty, and perfect.
Ingredients
- 2.00 cup dried great northern beans
- 1.00 l arge ham hock
- 1.00 onion , diced
- 4.00 cup loves garlic , minced
- 8.00 cup water
- salt and pepper
- cornbread
Instructions

Soak beans overnight and drain.

Place ham hock, beans, onion, and garlic in a large pot with water.

Bring to a boil then reduce heat.

Simmer 2-3 hours until beans are very tender.

Remove ham hock and pull off meat.

Return meat to pot.

Season generously with salt and pepper.

Serve with cornbread.
