Purple Hull Peas
Fresh purple hull peas cooked with smoked pork and garden vegetables.
Ingredients
- 2.00 cup fresh or frozen purple hull peas
- 1.00 ham hock or 4 strips bacon
- 1.00 onion , diced
- 3.00 cup loves garlic , minced
- 4.00 cup water
- salt and pepper
Instructions

Combine ham hock or bacon, peas, onion, garlic, and water in a pot.

Bring to a boil then reduce heat.

Simmer 45-60 minutes until peas are tender.

If using bacon, crumble it back into the peas.

Season generously with salt and pepper.

Serve with cornbread and pot likker.
