Keto Collard Greens with Ham Hock
Long-simmered collard greens cooked with a smoky ham hock until melt-in-your-mouth tender. Naturally keto.
Ingredients
- 2.00 lbs fresh collard greens stems removed
- 1.00 smoked ham hock
- 4.00 strips bacon chopped
- 1.00 onion diced
- 3.00 cloves garlic minced
- 4.00 cups chicken broth
- 1.00 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 1.00 tsp red pepper flakes
- 0.00 Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions

Cook bacon in a large pot until crispy then remove leaving drippings.

Saute onion in drippings 3 minutes then add garlic and cook 1 minute.

Add ham hock chicken broth and red pepper flakes.

Bring to a boil then reduce to a simmer for 20 minutes.

Wash collard greens remove tough stems and roughly chop.

Add greens to the pot pressing down to submerge.

Cover and simmer 45 to 60 minutes until very tender.

Remove ham hock pull off any meat and return to pot.

Stir in apple cider vinegar and adjust seasoning.

Serve with pot likker broth.
