Ingredients

  • 2.00 l arge sweet onions , sliced into rings
  • 1.00 cup buttermilk
  • 1.00 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1.00 cup cornmeal
  • 1.00 tsp salt
  • 1.00 tsp black pepper
  • 0.50 tsp cayenne
  • vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

    Separate onion rings and soak in buttermilk 30 minutes.

    Mix flour, cornmeal, salt, pepper, and cayenne.

    Remove rings from buttermilk and dredge in flour mixture.

  4. 4

    Heat 3 inches of oil to 375°F.

    Fry rings in batches 2-3 minutes until golden brown.

    Drain on paper towels.

    Season with additional salt.

    Serve immediately.
