Hominy Grits
Stone-ground hominy grits slow cooked until creamy and served with butter.
Ingredients
- 2.00 cup dried hominy , soaked overnight
- 6.00 cup water
- 1.00 tsp salt
- 3.00 tbsp butter
- 0.50 cup heavy cream
- salt and pepper
Instructions

Drain soaked hominy and place in a large pot.

Add water and salt and bring to a boil.

Reduce heat and simmer covered for 1 1/2 to 2 hours until hominy is very tender.

Drain most of the liquid.

Mash partially with a potato masher or blend briefly for a porridge texture.

Stir in butter and cream.

Season with salt and pepper.

Serve as a breakfast porridge or side dish.
