Fried Okra
Cornmeal crusted okra fried golden and crispy — a Southern favorite.
Ingredients
- 1.00 lb fresh okra , sliced into rounds
- 1.00 cup cornmeal
- 0.50 cup all-purpose flour
- 1.00 tsp salt
- 1.00 tsp black pepper
- 0.50 tsp cayenne pepper
- 2.00 l arge eggs
- vegetable oil for frying
Instructions

Mix cornmeal, flour, salt, pepper, and cayenne in a bowl.

Dip okra slices in beaten egg then toss in cornmeal mixture.

Heat 2 inches of oil in a cast iron skillet to 375°F.

Fry okra in batches, turning occasionally, for 3-4 minutes until golden brown and crispy.

Do not overcrowd the pan.

Drain on paper towels.

Season with additional salt if desired.
