Fried Apple Pies
Individual fried hand pies filled with cinnamon spiced apples.
Ingredients
- 2.00 cup cooked and mashed apples
- 0.25 cup sugar
- 1.00 tsp cinnamon
- 0.25 tsp nutmeg
- pastry: 2 cups flour , 1 tsp salt, 2/3 cup shortening, 1/3 cup cold water
- oil for frying
- powdered sugar

Mix mashed apples with sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

Make pastry by cutting shortening into salted flour until crumbly, adding cold water until dough forms.

Roll thin and cut into 5-inch circles.

Place a spoonful of apple filling on each circle.

Fold over and crimp edges firmly with a fork.

Fry in oil at 375°F for 2-3 minutes per side until golden.

Drain on paper towels.
