Cornmeal Mush
Old-fashioned cooked cornmeal mush served warm with butter and sorghum syrup.
Ingredients
- 1.00 cup white cornmeal
- 1.00 tsp salt
- 4.00 cup water
- 2.00 tbsp butter
Instructions

Bring 3 cups water to a boil in a medium saucepan.

Mix cornmeal and salt with 1 cup cold water.

Slowly pour cornmeal mixture into boiling water, stirring constantly.

Reduce heat to low and cook, stirring frequently, for 20-25 minutes until very thick.

Stir in butter.

Serve warm with syrup or milk, or pour into a loaf pan, cool completely, slice, and fry in butter until golden.
