Southern Bean Soup
White beans slow cooked with ham hock, onion, and garlic until silky smooth.
Ingredients
- 2.00 cup dried navy beans
- 1.00 ham hock
- 1.00 onion , diced
- 3.00 cup loves garlic , minced
- 2.00 cup arrots , diced
- 3.00 stalks celery , diced
- 8.00 cup water
- salt , pepper, and thyme to taste
- cornbread
Instructions

Soak beans overnight and drain.

Combine beans, ham hock, onion, garlic, carrots, celery, and water in a large pot.

Bring to a boil then reduce heat.

Simmer 2-2 1/2 hours until beans are very tender.

Remove ham hock and pull off any meat.

Return meat to pot.

Season generously with salt, pepper, and thyme.

Serve hot with cornbread.
