Ingredients

  • 3.00 cup dried or canned peaches
  • 0.50 cup sugar
  • 1.00 tsp cinnamon
  • 0.25 tsp nutmeg
  • pastry: 2 cups flour , 1 tsp salt, 2/3 cup shortening, 1/3 cup cold water
  • vegetable oil for frying
  • powdered sugar

Instructions

    If using dried peaches, soak in water 1 hour then cook with sugar and spices until soft.

    Mash roughly.

    Make pastry by cutting shortening into flour and salt until crumbly, then adding water until dough forms.

    Roll thin and cut into 5-inch circles.

    Place a spoonful of filling on each circle.

    Fold over and crimp edges firmly with a fork.

    Fry in oil at 375°F for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown.

    Drain on paper towels.
