Field Pea and Snaps
Fresh field peas cooked with snapped green beans and a ham hock.
Ingredients
- 2.00 cup fresh or frozen field peas
- 1.00 cup snap beans , snapped into pieces
- 1.00 ham hock or 4 strips bacon
- 1.00 onion , diced
- 4.00 cup water
- salt and pepper
Instructions

Place ham hock or bacon in a pot with water and onion.

Bring to a boil and cook 30 minutes.

Add field peas and snap beans.

Season with salt and pepper.

Simmer 45 minutes to 1 hour until peas are very tender.

Remove ham hock and shred any meat back into pot.

Serve with cornbread and pot likker.
