Pinto Bean Soup
Creamy pinto beans slow cooked with fatback, onion, and cornbread on the side.
Ingredients
- 2.00 cup dried pinto beans
- 1.00 ham hock
- 1.00 onion , diced
- 4.00 cup loves garlic , minced
- 2.00 stalks celery , diced
- 8.00 cup water
- 1.00 tsp cumin
- salt and pepper
- cornbread and hot sauce
Instructions

Soak pinto beans overnight and drain.

Combine beans, ham hock, onion, garlic, celery, water, and cumin in a large pot.

Bring to a boil then reduce to a simmer.

Cook 2-2 1/2 hours until beans are very tender.

Remove ham hock and shred any meat back into soup.

Season with salt and pepper.

Mash some beans against the side of the pot to thicken soup.

Serve with cornbread and hot sauce.
